Harina Derom
Age:
22
Sex:
Female
Physical Description:
Her muscularity can definitely be considered rather meek, and generally quite frail. Thankfully she isn’t bare bones due to being provided with bread and meat for the order she used to work for during the crusades. Her body type, after years witch hunting, crusading and burning heretics at the stake have left her body type to be quite wiry.
Her height sits at around 5’7, her hair colour appears quite unusual remaining at a strange tint of dirty white despite her age being rather young, barely escaping from her teens. Harinas skin colour appears as that of White (caucasian), being considered to be an ashen pale, with signs of clear English and German descent shown on her features as well as her peculiar accent. Harinas eyes are a nice blue hue though a mixture of grey lingers within the mist of her iris, giving it the same colour of a grey cloud with a clear blue sky behind.
A sharp convex nose, thin jawline but long chin adorns her face, along with tightly knit eyebrows, and general spacing between them. The ears appear lobeless, and small, keeping close to her head instead of sticking out. The womans foot size sits around at a nine and a half. The woman's hair is partially short, though it is tied together into a nice, neat ponytail that she has managed over the years. In fact, it's the only hairstyle she knows how to fashion after her father doing it for her for so many years.
Attire:
When her time is devoted to prayer, and general worship of the light, Harina dresses in a fair crimson dress, with black silk patterns resembling that of ornate wedding dresses or funeral gowns, a hood accompanying the robe so that she can keep her hair covered whilst she prays.. On her feet, at least when walking around outside, Harina wears sandals of low quality, nothing flashy unlike her dress. The dress itself reaches down to ankle length, as not to trip her up when she walks.

Iron will [Unbreakable, even in the face of demise, she stands tall with cross held high and tome shining bright with the Light coursing through her] (Increased stress resistance, increased virtue chance.)
Warrior of Light-PERMANENT [Although the light doesn’t blind her eyes, she feels it coursing through her, making her strong. Her words, fearsome, and her resolve unwavering as long as there is a sign of home shining in the light.] (When light is available, her resolve is stronger and when faced against enemies she will become more focused in her purpose, whether that’s to destroy them, or protect others with healing spells.)
Club scattering (Though she has slain many a foe, she has yet to know of proper technique or stance, she only knows how to swing) semi poor accuracy in melee
Judge, Jury, Executioners (She will judge those, not of skin, not of smell or size, but of their actions. There will be no biased, for the light will burn those that show a shred of heresy.) [She holds no inbetween, simply black and white morals.]
Synopsis:
The finer, more descriptive details on her history outside and inside the order were kept under lock and key, an organisation keeping secrets nice and tidy. Though, Harina remembers. A judge of light never forgets.
Full:
Harina was a religious child, protected by her father and scolded by her mother for being blind, even though she could not control it. They lived in a small village that remained passionate to the beliefs of the Light, but to a more irrational sense. Eventually, her mother was caught cheating with another man whilst in wedlock, and was promptly divorced forcefully and exiled out of the religious village. As the years went on, her father, Peter Derom, managed to teach her how to read from his young life as a court scribe, before the man was caught committing acts of ‘devil worship’ by a patrol of the ‘Apelion Benedictus’ order.
As such, the only child was taken into custody under the wing of the religious order. She was schooled strictly, caned and forced to learn how to act like a proper woman. Though eventually, she would snap, reducing her teacher to ash by accident when she yelled in protest. Harina was threatened with the gallows by many of the teachers friends, though the order had the final say, and they decided to enlist her in the crusades, not as a nurse, but as a vestal of battle and fanatical pious. Her teaching would take a turn, her woman like was refined yet twisted to be both a charismatic priest, yet a dominating oppressor to those that wrong her. The teaching consisted of history of the order, her religion and the chants of various spells that were used to smite heretics. There are rumours that she played another role as a seer, though many rumours of her spread throughout the crusade, about how she slung holy lightning over Ottoman walls, or burned heretics by the thousands with a click of her finger.
After the crusades, she took up work as a ‘witch hunter’, though for the first couple years at the age of 19, she wasn’t the best. Though with practice, and… ruthlessness, she proved to find heretics with just her nose (so to speak), burning a couple dozen heretics, before she would take up a more peaceful line of work.
After being fully trained as judge, jury and executioner of the holy order, Harina was called forth by higher ups of the order, to go forth on a pilgrimage, the ultimate witch hunt. To strike down beasts that were rumoured to exist, and ooze evil, and heresy.
The Darkest Estate beckoned forth, and she strode forward with tome held close to her chest, her expression calm, and cold.
Personality:
The vestal, Harina, can often be seen as a quiet, caring individuals by the sound of her voice. A silky, almost otherworldly tone that seems as light as a feather, that could break from the slightest touch. In a manner of speaking, her personality outside her hunting grounds is often quite pleasing, though certain topics that go against her faith, can often bring about a strange difference. Her tone would change slightly but still keeping the angelic like sound that is kept in her voice, her wording would become a lot more degrading to the person she's talking to. After all, she is the judge of Apelion, so she inherently believes she is above the masses.
Misc. Notes:
Harina is often perceived as a seer in her own right, rumours tell that she is able to see past the veil of mortality, which may excite secrets, or eldritch dangers.
-Skills & Equipment
Weapons:
Derom utilizes a unique holy tome of the holy military order Apelion Benedictus. The material of the book cover and spine is made from that of brown leather that has been worn down for what looks like eons. The paper itself is anointed in a well distilled holy oil that has been stored for eight years within one the Apelion Benedictus orders many churches that was near one of her home. A soft, red silk falls out of the pages, acting as a bookmark.
The woman brandishes a mace depicting a large sphere depicting the sun, with various metal decorations surrounding the sides, which could be depicted as flanges. It’s depiction would relate to Apelion, God of the sun.. The grip, pommel and other parts of the mace are made out of a thick iron, whilst the flame portion of the mace is made out of solid brass. A thick silk string has been wrapped around the pommel, so that Harina may shoulder it whilst reading scripture from her braille book and casting it at her foes to reduce them into urn ash. As Harina casts her offensive spells, the brass flame will begin to glow, until reaching a point where its scolding hot after casting her spells a certain amount of times, as if it were held in the forge. This will not only add to the torch light, but sear enemies flesh when being struck, causing additional pain to heretics.
Harina is able to focus on her spells through devoting more time to her chanting, making her magical offensive attacks more powerful as a result. This, takes time, and leaves her open for attacks as she concentrates more.
Magic:
Shield of Apelion
[Despite her frail nature, Harina puts herself in harm's way to protect those that follow the light with her at the helm. Her enemies look upon her with unholy hatred, a ploy to lead them to their maker.] "To me, heroes! The heretics will come to heel, and be nailed on the ground to be burned!" (harina marks herself and gains a 25% damage resistance buff)
Gaze of Apelion
[Strikes two opponents at once with a bolt of ‘light energy’ from the woman's cross.] "Apelion! Lend me your flame! For the non-believers have come!" (harina damages two enemies in front of her, it can be charged for a single turn to deal damage to four enemies with the same damage value. If Harina takes damage during this period, it will interrupt the spell and she won't cast it.)
Spear of Apelion
[Harina releases a ‘lightning bolt’ style of offensive magic that directs an abnormal amount of ‘light energy’ toward a singular opponent.]("Burn in his glow, heretic! The sun comes for you!") (Harina forms a 'lightning' bolt in her hand and lunges it toward an enemy, causing heavy single target damage. Can be charged to deal more damage but takes another turn. If Harina takes damage during this period, it will interrupt the spell and she won't cast it. )
Divine Grace
[Heals a singular target for more beneficial health recovery, able to heal light-medium wound severity, but won’t heal heavy wounds as effectively unless it's a crit.]("Oh child, come to me, let the sun shine on this son of cinder.")
Divine Comfort
[Provides an AOE style heal for those near Harina, healing light wounds, partially heals medium wounds, has no effect on heavy wounds. If it's a crit, it will however have a partial healing effect on heavy wounds.]("Under the embrace of our lord, shall we know the light.")
Armor:
The woman bares armour resembling that of the in game vestal from DD that is worn over her robe, which can be related to that of ‘plate armour’, though only her chest, back, hips and shoulders are covered. The chestplate itself bears resemblance to the ‘Hussars chestplate’, lined with brass studs across her abdomen, it remain a firm holy defense against enemy blows. Her pauldrons are bulky, spiked and covering the majority of her shoulders. On her waist, a skirt of gamberson covers her hip, behind and front.
A hood covers her head of hair, along with a silk veil to cover her face, her main reasoning so that the heretics cannot look upon her fair face as they are struck down to ash. The general colour of the soft materials depict a crimson, with the veil itself being more transparent, though making her facial appearance blurred through the fabric.
Her legs are protected by a chainmail hosen, accompanied by chainboots to be worn over her chain linked feet Finally, her arms, armpits, head are only protected by the crimson cloth robe that she wears outside of combat, during prayer.
Other gear:
Chrism Oil x 3
Superstitious equipment held in a hip satchel such as vials of holy water, prayer beads and so on.
A pouch containing herbal relief, her order stating it provides better contact to the light if one removes themselves from their mind.
Within her satchel, there’s also a scroll thats weathered and torn, that with her and the help of an associate of the order, have produced a more easily understandable guide for Harina to follow in the off chance she has trouble understanding the orders provided tome. The language in itself was introduced by her father, mainly to educate her on how to speak. Eventually, when she was taken in by the order, they refined it and made it into something more manageable and efficient. The language itself consists of ‘dot sized stars’, ‘dashed lines’ and ‘crosses’ with each individual letter being one of these three, but with slight changes, for example; the F may be a dashed line but with only two dashes, whilst Z may be a collection of dot sized stars.
