Dominic Mars
Resolve level: 1
-Appearance
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Physical Description: A veritable mountain of a man, Dominic stands at a gargantuan 6’11”(or 2.1 meters) with a lofty 190 kilograms built upon his indomitable bone structure. Due to his spartan upbringing, he is almost unhealthily lacking in fats upon his musculature, giving it a rather cord-like appearance to the weight meat.
His skin, the reasoning for much scandal and punishment, is that of an umbral hue; hailing from beyond the Desert, his skin is patched with scar tissue from both rugged environs, and vicious battles… And from merciless assault from those he called brother and master both.
His head is built with a strong, wide jaw angles out to a very box-like shape; his full lips are ever creased in a frown, with his flared nostrils being a touch shy from being as wide as his lips. The short nose rises up to a hard line of a brow, which rest like edges of a cliff over piercing, flinty eyes that are narrowed in a perpetual squint. His crown is kept bald, as is his jaw; though he does boast some dark strands for his eyebrows.
Attire: The man does not remove himself from his armor.

However, his Order has grown terse and rigid; fragmenting and its rules scattering. Sent on a quest of retribution, Dominic hopes to find salvation, not just for himself, but for his Order… In the Darkest Dungeon.

-Skills & Equipment
Weapons:
[Using Oakeshotte Typology for reference]
+Darkslayer Greatsword
-With a Type XIIIa hilt and blade, with a Type 2 bronze-plated crossguard and twin skulls for a pommel; the Darkslayer’s Greatsword is truly a mighty thing to behold. The blade alone reaches out to 188cm, with a strong, reinforced fuller running the length of the weapon to ensure it does not break unless put under extreme duress. The steel of the blade looks to have an intricate yet… spontaneous design of whorling shapes, like oil; if one stares at it for too long, the shapes begin to make sense. Whether by some fanciful illusion or some otherworldly design, the blade is of great import to The Darkslayer Dominic. The weapon does not boast a sheathe.
Armor:
+Brazier Full Helm
-Made of good steel, this full helm boasts a unique design in its straight-slit visor and gold-plated semi-circle at the center of the brow; as well as a four-pronged crown and basin for oil and coal, for which Dominic to set alight at his design. The crown, both outside and inside, is thicker than most helms, making it a bit top-heavy; primarily to protect the Darkslayer from melting his head.
+Chainmail coif
-Made of tightly interlinked steel rings, the coif is attached to the inner lip of his helm, making it difficult to remove. The coif is doubly pinned to his hauberk by twelve steel hooks to ensure his helm cannot be removed without due diligence. The coif goes over Dominic’s arming cap as well, covering everything but his eyes.
+Double-padded Arming Cap
-Made of several layers of cloth, and a leather exterior, the cap is meant to protect Dominic from strikes to the head, as well as the heat from the brazier atop his helm.
+Fur-collar Leather cloak
-White fur adorns the shoulders of this heavy leather cloak, made from several deer-hides expertly sewn together. It only reaches down to his calves, still.
+Sturdy leather belt
-Made of simple leather, this belt helps offset the weight of his armor and tabard, and an extra strap of leather allows Dominic to sheath or rest his blade at his hip.
+Heavy deep-blue tabard
-Using various tabards from Dominics before him, this tabard is rather thick; one might estimate there to be 3 to 7 layers of heavily woven cloth. It is dyed in deep blues rather consistently, and shows no marks of chafing
+Full Hauberk
-A hardy tunic of chainmail, it covers everything from his collar to knees with interlinked steel rings. It is bound by several leather bindings starting from the leather collar at the neck, to the mid-chest. The sleeves extend slightly past his hands. But are held tight by leather thongs.
+Chainmail mittens
-With a leather palm stitched over the chainmail as well as within, these mittens offer a surprising amount of protection, despite their otherwise silly appearance.
+Crude layered pauldrons
-Two pieces of rectangular steel are bolted together and latched onto the shoulders of Dominic’s hauberk, providing mediocre protection.
+Crude layered thigh-guards
-Much like his pauldrons, these sheets of steel are brusquely layered atop eachother to give an extra chance to deflect strikes to his thighs.
+Crude shynbaulds and sabatons
-Made of harshly hammered steel, the armor is chipped on the corners from where strikes had been deflected; they serve their purpose in protecting his toes and shins from strikes, but are hardly fashionable.
+Underbelt
-A lighter belt than the one atop his tabard, this belt serves to further offset the weight of his armor, and to hold onto an assortment of more delicate utilities; there is a small pouch capable of holding a phial of oil and a matchbox, as well as a few smaller pockets for scrolls and other miscellaneous gear.
+Chainmail hosen
-Covering his legs and hitched to a belt beneath his tabard, are tightly bound steel links that cover the length of his legs from attacks.
+Padded hosen
-Made of four layers of cloth, these hosen help keep Dominic’s leg’s warm and dampens the impact of most strikes.
+Basic leather boots
-Nothing of note, simple leather boots, no cuffs or designs. A glorified leather sock with a sole.
Other gear:
+Whetstone
-A simple whetstone for sharpening a blade.
+Tincture of burning oil
-Made by Dominic’s esteemed pyromancers, the oil is designed to burn brightly and fiercely depending on how much is distributed. The substance is dangerously combustive, and sticky.
+Wooden Matchbox
-Filled with a curious marvel, somewhat unique and especially prized by Dominic’s order, is a box filled with sticks boasting a head of sulphur powder and other reagents. A coarse patch of the same powder is set along a strip on the narrow facing of the box. There are currently 8 matchsticks in the box.
Strengths:
+Mountain’s Strength
-Somehow stronger than he looks, Dominic is more than capable of tackling boulders the size of his chest. Be it a blessing of the Light or a fierce dedication to maintaining such an impressive physique, Dominic’s strength is not to be underestimated.
+Fair Agility
-Despite his size, the man moves with more speed than one might imagine; both with his arms and long legs. Owed mostly to endless years of rigorous combat.
+Font of Faith
-Dominic’s faith can manifest in small miracles of healing or wards or boons; though he has no control of this power, they can sometimes be the difference between life and death.
[Dominic can make a prayer that essentially pleads to the DM for a particular miracle to be bestowed. This miracle can fizzle/fail, with the potential for dangerous consequences such as smiting or curses. Dominic must simply will for a prayer, though he may practice some rituals, the DM may decide whether or not they help the roll.]
Weaknesses:
-Unintelligent
-Dominic’s mind is far from the sharpest in the shed, and figuring out puzzles may be beyond him. Though he will certainly try.
-Large Target/Overconfidence
-Due to Dominic’s size and training, he will rarely dodge a blow willingly; he would sooner take the weight of a mountain then go around it.
-Untrained Combat
-In part because of his strength, as well as his Order’s practiced expeditions, Dominic doesn’t boast the most impressive training in official combat. Indeed, he relies more on brute strength than tactics to defeat his foes; he is more used to facing undisciplined rabble than practiced fighters, and will easily get caught and fooled by even the simplest of tricks.
