Yaa Ofori
Resolve level: Antiquarian, 0
-Appearance
Age: Early 20s
Sex: Female
Physical Description: Yaa is a 5'7" Akan woman of middling build and wealthy bearing. She carries herself with an easy confidence, her dark skin smooth from deliberate care, though her hands are calloused from heavy rope-work at sea. Her shoulder-length dark brown hair is usually tightly woven into strict braids that do not even reach the base of her neck. Her face is gently rounded, and she usually bears a mischievous grin that matches the one in her dark brown eyes. Her whole body speaks of understated lean muscle disguised by as veneer of good living.
Attire: Yaa's clothes are finely woven with patterns that a trained eye would tell of a family lineage close to the King's own, but not true royalty. In these frosted climbs, she has supplemented her usual light pants and shirt with a heavy poncho in the same style, an indicator of her rank. Underneath the poncho, she carries a number of dry hide-and-bone fetishes, tools of the trade for her position as Vodun priestess.

-Calm: "Not to worry, we'll get them soon."
Backstory Synopsis: A banker and priestess from the Ashanti Empire, here to collect on debts from a significant loan given to the Ancestor for costs associated with the construction of the Estate.
Full Backstory:
Gigantic, countryside-enveloping estates do not build themselves. There is blood, sweat, and tears, to be sure. But that is the domain of laborers. The actual nobility who commission such projects only concern themselves with the funds necessary to buy the materials and hire the laborers to put in the work. The Estate over the Hamlet is no exception, and in his travels before he settled down to deal with the family curse, he made the acquaintance of some Portuguese merchants who agreed to help finance him with gold bartered from the Ashanti Empire. A generation later, those same merchants came to find unfortunate circumstances, and as such the ownership of the loan was passed along to the original owners of the gold that helped to set the foundation stones.
Enter Yaa Ofori, Vodun practitioner and accountant to the King's ministry. The first-born daughter of a wealthy family held in good regard, she was called by the oracles to the role of priestess while training in the family business. Prodigy that she is, she was able to balance both duties, and by the time her clan celebrated her arrival into womanhood, she was both ordained into the faith as well as holding a respected position in the royal ministry. Such was the pride at her accomplishment that her family granted her permission to chose her role, and they would see to it that she received it.
With all the world on offer, she found she could not chose from the many opportunities available to her. After all, whatever choice she made would be temporary. As first-born daughter, it was her destiny to be Queen Mother when her own stepped down, and so her ambition could stretch far, but her family would draw her home to Ashanti. Weighing her choices, she decided on the path of the sea, for if she was to be called home to stay, she would see as much of the world as she could before then. Her family found her a ship that she was welcomed on as priestess to oversee offerings to Agbe, and the ministry gifted her with a series of oversea trade routes in distant Europe.
It was in this position that the task of recovering the Ancestor's debt fell to her, and so she has come to the Hamlet to collect. However, with the Heir not possessing a pittance of what is owed, problems arise. To come back empty-handed would be to risk banishment back home, and the shame of failing her family. So, she is determined to not fail. The gold bought the Estate, and she will tear what value she can out of the very stones if she must. This crumbling ruin will surrender its riches, and she cannot leave until it does.
Misc. Notes: Speaks Asante Twi, Portuguese, and English. Has a taste for the finer things in life.
-Skills & Equipment
Weapons: Short curved ceremonial sword with gold-wrapped hilt
Armor: Thick sailor's poncho
Other gear: Fetishes and offerings for entreating the spirits, collection of herbal medicines
Strengths: Clever, easy-going, can invite the spirits for a ride for some supernatural aid.
Weaknesses: Doesn't take anything that happens out here too seriously, avoids direct combat if possible, the spirits are not always helpful.
Example spirits:
Legba: Crossroads god, Vodun of the Unpredictable. Grants knowledge of the spirits and the recently deceased. Lecherous, lover of rum, speaks in riddles.
Agbe: Vodun of the Sea, patron of sailors. Grants skill with nautical instruments and shipcraft. Has to be kept moistened or may attempt to flee into the ocean.
Ogun: Vodun of War and Iron. Grants bravery and skill with metalworking, as well as the ability to reinforce skin with iron (Like the "Protect Me" move). Impetuous and authoritarian.
Mami Wata: Vodun of Markets and Health. Grants skill with healing and luck with money. Is a lustful spirit of fidelity, will pick a favorite to hold above all others.
Dan: Rainbow Serpent, Mediator between the living and the vodun. Grants diplomatic skill and blessings of rain. Cannot touch impure things.
