"No", said Nicholas as he tapped his finger against his eyepatch, his able eye looking at Clance gravely. "No man deserves to die in such a hopeless land - well, few men do, but still. We're all people from across the world", he said as he waved a hand in Tilly's direction.
"Women and men, soldiers and outlaws. Fools, and corpses", he finished with a grim smirk, raising his cup toward the frightened man in front of him. "Many have fallen and many will fall, Clance. I've accepted my death, and I intend to go down defying everything." With that, he downed what remained of the wine in his cup, wiping it off of his face once more, and took his pipe to smoke some more, frowning as he checked his pouch of tabbaco, only to find it nearly empty, to which he groaned. "I've lived a good life, considering I should have died a hundred times in the wars. I have my regrets, but I accept the fact that I can't do anything about it."

Clance snorted in a brief fit of laughter, he thought about the words the man in front of him was speaking. "We are all people in the wrong place. All of us come here for different reasons, but somehow we all end up here, milled out into the wilderness to most likely be killed." He raised an eyebrow, "And by the way, accepting death kind of invites it in. Don't live your life by metaphors."

Adonis's face paled as Courcy put on her little act of spooky savagery. If it wasn't for the fact they were in the Tavern Adonis very well would've moved to slice her throat if only by fear. But, for a moment he did not believe her, his mind working like a machine as he studied her in that moment trying to figure if she was indeed putting on an act or not.
The words... They were exaggerated, yet...there seemed to be truth riddled within it. He could not decipher it as much as he wanted to as he heard a voice call out and a person head toward them. He turned to look at the new person, to distract himself from Courcy. This woman seemed skin and bones yet she acted like a flower blooming in the spring despite lacking much needed nutrition. Most pointedly about her was her sharpish looking nose and rather large hat that seemed to set her different than everyone else.
He slowly turned his gaze back to Courcy, his eyes filled with fear yet calm at the same time. If Courcy had someone as happy as Tilly, then perhaps there were mysteries he could not see layered below the surface of a scarred mind. "I-is that y-your friend over there?" He slightly stuttered, gesturing towards Tilly.

Her visage of severity broke as Tilly called out for her. Courcy's teeth clenched and she choked back a sob, quickly leaning back in her seat and running a hand through her ginger bangs to hide her face however briefly. Regaining her composure quickly as she could manage, Courcy stood and glared harshly at Adonis again. "Clear. Off." She huffed heavily, leaving the man behind at the table. Her steps carried her to meet with Tilly, who appeared oppressively cheery. The hatted woman was clearly a better actor than Courcy herself, grief stricken with her own lost lover. "I thought you'd have come earlier. Blood went looking for you." The redhead 'greeted' with exasperation. She cocked her head to beg the question of the ex-lord's absence.

Tilly wrung her hands together and nervously broke another smile,
"Oh! Yes, yes... I just went out to get a bit of fresh air, s'all. Clear my head before an expedition; it always does me a spot of good. Makes sure I'm thinking clearly. We were heading back, but he forgot his cloak in the abbey and just now trundled off to go and find it again."
She furrowed her blonde brows and leaned to peer behind Courcy's shoulder, giving another wave, albeit much less enthusiastic than the one she had given Courcy, skeptically at Adonis.
"Indeed! She's a dear friend of mine." She flared her teeth pleasantly, that chip in her tooth on full display. "I thank you for keeping her company."
She leaned back to face Courcy, dropping onto her heels. She scanned her expression with a small frown of her own before observing, palming her shoulder,
"You look a touch wan. Are you well?"

How do you do it? Courcy's face met Tilly's. Her own, morbid and tired, while Tilly's lit with content. She couldn't blame her either, for masking the weighty guilt and wrenching sorrow that came with surviving in the hamlet - surviving friends and loved ones. "Fine. I'll be fine, after some sleep." The redhead reserved the news of Fenrik's death for Blood. She would only be selfish to bring it up while Tilly still mourned her own beloved. Some unseen grasp clenched her heart, desperate to release it only when she told the bloody-caped man that he had murdered another love.
Her eyes fell away, unable to watch Tilly's facade of happiness without a sick anger growing in her gut. She feared she would blurt something about Roderick. "Blood was going to put me up in his room." She shrugged and hugged her arms, lost until he returned with some direction for her.

"Ah, good, good... it'd be a shame for you to fall ill just before an expedition." Tilly nodded, rocking on he heels as she relinquished her admittedly light grip on Courcy's shoulder.
"We'll get some good sleep tonight, I wager; we've had a frightfully busy day, yeah?" She smiled, nodding again, slipping her hands into her pockets at the mention of Blood's room.
Her eyes flickered uneasily upwards, at the floorboards, and she chewed her tongue as she made to divine some sort of response that would not incriminate her too badly-- after all, with Courcy still reeling from her own beau's loss, it would be unfair to selfishly pile on some of her own.
"Ah, but... his room upstairs's being... repaired, see." She shrugged her bony shoulders, "One of the hinges broke, I believe. Makes it hard to swing the door in and out."
"Has Blood shown you his bitty hidey-hole in the abbey? Think he'd let you bunk there. I could show you, if you'd like-- or it might be better if you could ask him all the same when he comes around here?"

Courcy shrank with a sigh. "He didn't mention. We were only just there..." It was dreadfully tiresome to wait for the man to come back from the abbey, only to lead her back another time in the same day. It wasn't as though the hellion was wont to spend the night in the holy building anyways. She shook her head. "I'd just as well sleep at a table. Been a long day, like you said." Rubbing her bicep, she resigned that she could manage to sleep in the bar, but she wouldn't like to. She chewed her lip and her irises lifted to Tilly's hesitantly. "Y-you haven't got a place yourself, have you?"

Tilly's hands emerged from their pockets, if only to wring themselves against each other anxiously, the fingers weaving and unweaving themselves together.
"Ah... you're right about that. I haven't." She gave another smile at her, as if she could affect Courcy's own gloomy demeanor through sheer facial expressions alone.
"But it's not unlike our ilk to find whatever place we can, hm? Us loners..." She chirped in some syrupy cheeriness, a hand rising up to needlessly readjust the brim of her hat.
"I think I'll plop down right next to you at the bar, doze off a bit." Tilly offered her in kind, her hand falling, retreating back to its space in her coat pockets.
"Why, I sleep rather lightly, myself; You can use my satchel to rest your head, and I can make sure nobody sticks their fingers in our pockets, yeah?"

"Yeah." The ginger attempted a smile, at least to appease Tilly's attempts to cheer her. If the other woman could play at happiness, Courcy could try harder. She spotted Adonis over her shoulder while she spared a glance at the bar. The bridge was all but burned with him, though she would be sleeping nearby soon enough. She even tried at a laugh at the irony, for Tilly, but its falseness was more than obvious. Courcy lingered with the hatted woman, only taking a step for the bar until Tilly moved with her. "Thank you." At least that was genuine.

"Anytime, Courcy."
Tilly watched her a moment, sizing her up, but her face still lit with a cheery smile, and she trotted over to the nearest bar stool, regardless, and plopped her bony self down atop it.
She settled rapidly, hooking both bootheels on the lower rungs of the barstool, already setting down her satchel for Courcy to rest comfortably on.
She looked to her expectantly, if not a bit anxiously.
"I can loan you my coat, too, if you get cold; it's getting warmer out-- I think it'd be on the verge of spring, now-- but it's still a bit chilly. A-and I don't get cold all that easily, myself..."
She tapped her long fingers over the tops of her knees and gave an uncomfortable pause.
"Just... make yourself comfortable, yeah? You deserve that, at the very least."

Arriving in the Tavern, it was in Ibrahim's best interest to not attract unwanted attention. Ordering a simple meal from Hook, he sits down at a table, alone. To pass time, he takes out a scroll from his robes, adjusts the turbain and begins reading the familiar text. Repetition is key to memorization, as he was taught.

"Whatever you say, fresh meat", shrugged the soldier as he saw a peculiar man entering the Tavern, his clothes quite exotic for the place. Now, things were starting to look as he remembered; several mercenaries minding their own business, taking solace in this decrepit building. Shaking his head, he stood from his seat, and slung his nockgun over his shoulder once more. "I suggest you go and visit the rest of the place", he said to Clance over his shoulder.
"If you ever survive you first foray into the dungeons, the Sanitarium is a place you'll want to be familiar with, and so is the Abbey. The Guild Hall offers training for those who can spare the coin, and the blacksmith will fix your stuff right up. Just go and take a look for yourself." And with that, he took his pipe from the table and brought it to his lips, and walked toward Ibrahim, stopping once he was next to a seat at the man's table. "Mind if I sit here?" he asked as he put his extinguished pipe into its small wooden box carefully.

Clance smirked, "So we're back to the nicknames huh?" He didn't expect an answer, and listened to the man get up and take his disgusting pipe away with his gun. He got up, readjusting his wrist sheaths covertly, moving towards the bar. He sat down, ordering a small portion of soup. Clam Chowder. He ate it. "Holy shit...This is good." Fresh from the ocean, Clance could taste it. He began 'grubbin down.

Glancing upwards from the scroll, Ibrahim's black eyes examined the newcomer thoroughly, lingering for more than a second on the curious skull ornaments. Motioning to one of the few free seats, he says: "You may."
His food arrived - beef stew, smelling pleasantly, with a few slices of bread. The Hook special. Before taking a bite, he inquired with a calm, if not monotone voice. "With whom I have the pleasure?" He rolled the scroll in the meantime, which returned to the depths of his thick, oriental robes.
