/Lekalis/
Humming, he quirked his head to one shoulder, then the other as he thought on the matter; "Of sorts... I can't say I'm too versed in the lore of her family, the Paer. Their roots are much too deep for me to have scryed anything at all." Lekalis sighed sadly and shrugged, "Not for want of trying; but her family are secretive and dying out... By the time I passed through their Hearthlands, they were being dispersed throughout the territories the Gunsche had conquered. To small reserves where their great white trees hadn't been burnt to ash..." His eyes were cloudy at the memory, such as the day was, "... The sky was of ash for years, I'd been told, over the forests the Paer had lingered in. The Gunsche were forced to burn it all down to minimize casualties."
His brows furrowed and he sighed, dismissing the sad memory, "I don't think Taas' kin were from the Far North, but they certainly adopted some of their tropes and linguistics."

"Hm... what a pity." Tilly hummed sadly: it was tragic to see cultures die out as time flowed onward. Tragic evermore to know that it was at the hand of the war-faring Gunsches who most certainly would mishandle such claims of land. "Can they write? They ought to write histories while they can..."
Tilly blinked, and in a flash of thought, added,
"Wasn't Taas's name... 'ash-something'?"

"Depends on who you ask... and how drunk they are." Lekalis chuckled lightly as he spied the cellar doors upon their property and made his way over to it. "Though I'm of the opinion it's Ash-Wolf; her brother... Uncle? I forget, was Fol'Valadyr, I believe. Pale-Wolf." The urge to flourish his hand with his words was becoming almost painful to suppress as he rambled on. "Valadyr is clearly 'Wolf', of some sort..."
With a sigh, he shook his head in an effort to clear some strands from his face as he posed himself beside the cellar doors, "... The Paer write their histories in tree-bark. Most of it went to flame when the Gunsches torched their homes, but they have good memories... I'm sure some of them will write and keep their histories." Lekalis assured both Tilly and himself of this rather hopeful claim...

The knight watched with a raised brow as the man walked off at first, making him turn his form as he clipped the sword sheath back onto his hip. For a moment, he stared at Gisheler to size him up, to see if he was still judgemental. He didn't catch much, bowing his head in greeting, "Libourg Tundel, a Soldier fulfilling his duty." Libourg stated, though there was a lack of courage or strength in his words, perhaps his long standing duties here had affected his motivation to an extent. Still, the man replied silently with a weak smile beneath his combed beard, a firm hand resting atop the flame shaped pommel and taking steps to follow after Gishler.
"I am a man in need of a duel that isn't with Brigand nor beast... It would indeed be a respite." Libourg agreed to the mans offer with due pride as he met shoulder to shoulder with Gishler, stopping beside him and turning his head with a slow crank to the left, a wayward glance at the side of his unmoving face. The bone structure of a killer, Libourg thought to himself as he noted the lack of movement, "-Of course, a duel is best with the 'proper company', and training is always welcome." The knight let the seed of encouragement blossom through words, before he began taking a couple steps forward to intiate a cohesive movement for the Sellsword and the Knight. Without looking over his shoulder, and not really stopping (though his movement was a normal walking pace), he spoke.
"So Gisheler the Sellsword, what brought you to this place? Did the deeds and bounties of the world out there not suit your appetite?"

"Tree-bark?" Tilly grimaced. "That wouldn't last long at all, fire or not." It was a true pity, akin to the burning of a proper library-- but any information worth protecting ought to be locked up and sheltered, not left out in the woods for who-knows-what to come across them.
She sighed in resignation: the ministrations of the Paers were no business of hers.
"Should I let you go on alone while you talk to her?" Tilly already set to kneel, leaning forward a touch awkwardly as she pulled open the cellar doors.

Charis ends up examining the Bounty Board once again, looking for an expedition to go on... "A 'Cattlecrier' in the woods?" She mutters confusedly.

"I'm told their most reputable tales were written upon pale-bark; white as bone and stronger than steel..." Lekalis added with due hope as he pulled the bowl of chowder to his hip and gave Tilly a quick murmur of thanks as he took a step down to the cellar before pausing, looking up to Tilly. It would hardly be kind to bestow such uncanny knowledge upon Tilly, as hardened as she might be, of the terrors of the Amulet Red. Leastwise, so Lekalis thought as he stared at her; gears nigh visibly turning behind his stygian pupils that were flanged with wit and curiosity. He blinked and turned his head with a small cough as he shook his head.
"She might be... traumatized. It's best if I go alone, to keep her calm." He explained his reasoning before he reached out and made to give Tilly's hand a quick and affectionate squeeze. "Will you be in the shack..? I'll tell you how she is... maybe elaborate on what happened, best as I can..." He inquired and offered with a warm smile and cocked brow.

"Right, yeah, I was planning to..." Tilly nodded, though internally she was still puzzling over the logic of inscribing such valuable information onto something as temporary as a tree's bark, regardless of its strength. It still burned.
"I'll be sleeping, most like." With some sleepish effort she made to get back onto her feet, and after a glance around to ensure that Elsa was still in tow, she began to step back towards their humble dwelling, slipping her hand out of his with a little smile.
"...Talk well, then. Try not to have too many mind-warping visions."

/Lekalis/ "Will do, my Love; likewise, try not to bleed from the face while I'm gone." He teased lightly with a wink that held more trepidation than a jest 'ought. The prospect of Tilly suddenly and spontaneously suffering from some malady of the curse was all too real... The measure of spontaniety nagged at him. There had to be a pattern... With a quick cough, he cleared his mind and gave Tilly a quick nod before he started down into the abyssal dark of the cellar; the candle seemed to still be out so he rather assumed Florence was still asleep. So he hoped, at least. In his gut, knowing this realm's matter of madness, he let a hand drift to the hilt of his falchion as he steel'd his nerves and descended, gingerly calling out Florence's name... \Lekalis departs to Misc. Talea accepted the force of his hand in hers, though the foreign warmth percolated her flesh far deeper than the chill of death. It pervaded her senses, toying with her thoughts until curiosities deluged her. Query's danced and nudged against her lips, and their passage coated her tongue in sugar. So saccharine was the mortal's presence that she met not his pining gaze, nor pondered the marriage of fear and opprobrium writhing behind his eyes, lest it consume her too. Instead she drew him forth from the gilded being that derided her, offering it no cognizance as they advanced beneath twilight's bitter mantle. Her own weary gaze traveled to the stars blinking somnolent o'erhead.
"Arts are required for the bones of my craft: materials that can shelter the souls."
Her face, marble in its stillness and ethereal glow, remained fixed on the lights lingering above, searching for answers within their tiny muted voices. They sang the deeds of one nestled amidst the Hamlet's groaning bones. One who had played with the souls like a child fashions sticks and bones into toys.
"Know thee the path to one who harbors such crafts as to weave a web between art and arcane?"

Adeney was reserved to follow her, but Talea could be just the thing that he and Florence needed. She offered a strange spiritual connection that he lacked. He shuffled after her, still connected by her hand. When she stopped to gaze at the dark sky, Adeney squinted at her again. The woman seemed amenable, but mysterious all at once. Would Lekalis or Florence trust another with their secrets? If they suspected Talea of working with the Gunsche, she could be dealt with at their hideout.
"You need a... conduit? Or a..." The doctor furrowed his brow to recall his recent and brief knowledge of the subject. "A phylactery of sorts? I know someone who experiments, but I am not sure. The materials you need, and your 'arcane craft' - we are seeking to learn more."
He sighed and craned his neck to look at the stars himself. Was she day dreaming, or did she see souls up in the sky? Adeney cleared his throat and let go of her hand.
"I can take you to her."

Though the threat of conversation raked across her skin, the stars offered no balm to her. They only gazed down from their lofty heights as Talea nodded, placid, in response: a weak gesture offered to belay the vocalizations that would follow. Her hands feigned acceptance, spread between the mask-bearer and herself where a glimmer of ivory stone twined between her fingers like spun silk. No string guided its orbit, yet it seemed to move on its own accord, a living orb besotted with its minder.
At last she closed the distance, hands replaced with soma, and sheltered the stone once more within her palms. The mortal sought her understanding, and her gaze travelled to his, where two polar forces met, both unique yet magnetic in their balance. With a gentle smile, she inclined her head.
"I entrust my path to your guidance."

The doctor faced Talea and noted the tilt of her head and quirk of her lips. Her smile belied her otherwise grim appearance. She was a unique vision, robed in threadbare dress and unkempt tresses, not to mention the glaringly grisly skull atop her head. Adeney was most perturbed by her unseen eyes.
He had a mask too, for practical use, though he would admit it offered more than physical protection. It was a barrier to hide his indifference, or opposite, to hide his emotive outbursts. Where he was emotional, the doctor was meant to be stable. Where he was cold, others expected sympathy. The mask was a simple front.
"Good. I should take you the long route, in case anyone were to follow." Adeney didn't bother to explain the need for secrecy. He glanced about to see no one else nearby, not even Libourg. It might have been more convenient to guide the knight to Audrey at the same time, but he could find the man later. Swiveling toward the residential area, he peered past his shoulder at Talea. He waved his glove, beckoning her to follow, unsure if she would take his hand again.

As a ghost she drifted in his shadow, silent, borne on footsteps strangers to the dilapidated streets. Yet the stones and darkness marked her passage, for they knew her purpose in the night. Like a virgin amidst a throng of soldiers, the stones begged Talea endue them with her prurient notice. In weathered voices, rent with age, they urged she free her footsteps from her leather confines, that each tender step might assuage their desolation.
She cast them not such fond affections, lost instead in cursed quandary, and the unwonted trace of congeniality that had glimmered briefly in her visage faded, bowed behind her solemn crown . Bones weighed heavy, voices pleading, yet the Night condemned them all. One sight compelled her deep within the viscera of city and blood, the sight of eyes she had sold alongside flesh for her mantle still unknown. Beneath shrouds of auburn, in quietus still she followed, led by mortal and bound by fate.

Adding her name to the party list for this 'Swine Bray' Expedition, Charis moves to resume her wanderings. "Maybe I should poke around the residential area? ... It's getting late though..." Charis muses as she walks off. Charissa ends up being so lost in thought, that she ends up literally running into Adeney as they both round the same corner. "Uff!" Charis breathes as she rebounds off of the Doctor.
