Here, we're going to establish some lore based on events that have already occurred in the RP prior to this point, and also based on what information is provided to us in.
We've already talked about some points in the Discord chat, but here we can talk about it in a more organized manner.
Some of what we've already covered:
Note: This is still being refined and should be considered a rough draft.
-The Mainland is rife with conflicts and inconsistencies in knowledge. Communication is poor between provinces and even within them. Consequently, technology and education can vary wildly, with some provinces reliant on simple and barbaric means and others wielding gunpowder. Technology does not advance past our equivalent of the 1800s, with very few and limited exceptions. (As established in our F.A.Q.)
-The United Kingdom (Consisting of England, Australia [which is 100% not the Australia we know irl, but an island adjacent to Ireland], and large portions of Scotland, Ireland, and Wales), France, Germany, Spain, and Italy war amongst and within themselves. The nobility of these provinces follow the path of the Light, worshipping the life-giving Flame (with a severe variation in traditions and beliefs depending on locale, due to the poor communication).
Those who do not follow the Light (in the European islands and mainland, at least) are considered pagan. Holy wars are waged throughout the mainland to stamp out paganism with limited success, and pagans still live in the (typically rural/more remote?) lands within even the major powers' borders.
-The Hamlet lies in the north of the UK-controlled mainland province.
-And maybe more! I don't think I've got everything said that needs to be said.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT, IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM, MEANT TO REFLECT THE HISTORY WE KNOW IN OUR WORLD.
While some elements are definitely based on established history in Europe that we know, it is still very different in order to support backstories already made canon to the RP, and in order to support the setting of Darkest Dungeon and the magic within it.
