The Descent: The tunnel was precariously steep. It would be difficult to crawl down, but manageable. Though it truly begged the question of finding a way back up the tunnel. Nonetheless, after a good while of crawling, the tunnel would level out to a slope that was infinitely more sane. They would be able to stand-- save for Bach, who would likely need to crouch.
There was some sort of ruckus below: snorting, panting, and heavy thuds like great horses' hooves on the rock floor just beyond the meager circle of light provided by the lantern.

Bach grabbed Balt by the shoulder and holding him back. "I don't like those sounds. Better be ready to kill something." she says as she slips a dagger out of a pouch, wanting the smaller, faster weapon in crampt quarters.

Balt turned around suddenly, flashing her a wild and panicked glare. His hand gripped tight on his warhammer, and he nodded at her. "Let's try to move quietly, alright?" Balt encouraged as he turned about, his finger turning a small valve to tighten the airway for the lantern, making the light dimmer but the fuel lasting longer as a result. He held it outward, brandishing his warhammer on its blunt end in a striking form.
Baltasar would be deathly silent for this duration, listening out to see how close the hooves actually were.. and if they were heading his way as he stuck to the wall of the tunnel, moving forward slowly.

Balt: It would do well to find somewhere safe to stash the lantern in anticipation of combat, if one were willing to brave the dark. If it were damaged in combat, of course, there would be no choice in the matter.
Tunnel: The dim light certainly did not benefit their visual perception, but the stench that followed was tell-tale: fresh meat, coppery in the air. The hooves were frighteningly close. There was a thud, and the sickening sound of something cracking open, followed by delighted snorting. The ritual of cracks and admiration repeated, over and over.
Whatever the creature was, by the sound of it, it was preoccupied. If one were swift enough-- and bold enough-- they might be able to ambush the beast.

Balt stopped dead in his tracks, turning about swift to hold one finger to his lips toward Bach, signalling her to be quiet. With another reach to his lantern, he stretched his arm out as he took another step, but would turn the valve again, resulting in the flame of the lantern to become less dim, but not radiant. Hopefully, this will discover whatever beast lurks beneath the shadow.
Slowly would Baltazar lower the lantern to the floor, placing it on the ground and equiping his buckler he had stashed away. He then stood ready to strike at anything close, raising his warhammer high into the air and posing his buckler close to his form in a wishy washy manner. He would then take slow, very careful steps toward whatever was ahead, wanting to get a better look at it before he ended it with righteous youth.

Bach decided to let the guard go first, hopefully so he could draw out whatever was in front of them.

Beast: It was entirely distracted, although the cracking slowed. Balt would not see much initially; the light was too dim to see further than just a small circle.
However, it would reveal a great many of corpses: swinefolk, strewn about the floor of the room. Their ribcages had been caved in like a melon by something heavy and hammer-like.

"Piss." The guard mouthed to himself with a twitch of his nose, turning his head away as a foul stench seemed to invade his nostrils, stifling his gagging before he turned back around to look at the creature. He turned to Bach, and would point toward the lantern, then telling her to follow around the creatures side.
Looking back in the direction of the beast, he took another step, steering away from its side, attempting to make his way around. However, just in case he would flip his warhammer to the pike on the end, in case the creature were to notice... he could hopefully gouge its organs out with it.
Shuffling closer, almost behind it, he would look around him to see if there was a more comfortable way around, keeping well away from the beast, as well as any corpses that could crack or pop if he stepped on their bones.

Being a large woman, Bach was not the greatest at what one would call stealth. Picking up a lantern would only make the matter worse, but it was worth it to be able to see, She supposed. So she would pick up the lantern and move slowly with her eyes on the beast, and her dagger at the ready, moving after Balt while also keeping as much distance between her and the creature.
