The Setting-
Beyond the far-reaching stretches of dark wood, beyond where the sands of The Cove start, and even before you can smell the dreaded stench of The Warrens, lies The World. The single most important gateway on the crusade to control the multiverse, the point of which all creature and man, big and small, wishes to obtain. The World is the goal.
But standing, proudly even, amongst the chaos, amongst the dark, stands the Hamlet. A festering cesspool of metal and mettle, this single town marks the line between sweet destruction and boring death. The focal point of every and all thorns in the mighty leader's many sides.
Under the Shadowy Banner, the teeming hordes march and scheme. but every single time, the Hamlet sends its tendrils through the earth and air, and negate every move. Under this Shadowy Banner, our peoples have persisted, breeding and reawakening and even ascending those worthy enough to kill the Hamlet in spite.
But nothing of worth has come to pass.
Under a different banner, you will rise, and you will steal the very tactics of the Hamlet, and you will destroy it. Using their own methods you will deconstruct their plans and burn their treasured Heir alive in his mighty home. You will do it, but not for the Heart and its cruel lieutenants.
It is for The Cabal of Villainy, you fight.
You-
Perhaps you are one of the many humans that wait alongside The Old Road, scheming and stealing to get by. No longer! You are mighty men, though you may not look it, and we have posted many flyers for you, in your dark wood. Come! Your purpose awaits!
Perhaps you are one of the balls of tooth and nail they call a Swine, lured to us by the meat we so generously placed in front of your dank tunnels and hallowed hunting grounds. Your malice and contempt for all life will serve you well, for we need warriors and tribesmen willing to do what is needed for our cause.
Perhaps you are, like our great leader, Toby No-Jaw, a skeleton? You are no simple folk, and you will show those that you aren't! You have been released, for your undead masters have been slaughtered by the very humans that plot in their hovels to kill you! Take you and your bleached-boned friend with you, march under the leadership of those of which think of you for who you are, and not what you can do.
And perhaps you have heard out bugler beneath the depths, and your pelagic queen no longer catches your fancy? It is perhaps at her death that you were freed from eternal servitude, o oceanic brothers and sisters. If you can hear us, you can join us, for the powers of the Deep Dark Ocean are needed.
Maybe, just maybe, you are amongst the Crimson Court too bloodthirsty to remain decadent within your corrupting swamps? Maybe the representative we sent with the letter nailed through his chest found you in good health? If you are a dirty bloodsucker, you're welcome too! Just know, your curse is a fickle thing.
Them-
Who, pretell, are you fighting? Well, those underneath the Shadowy Banner are foremost in our general vicinity, as their dark clutches will most definitely bar us from progress for the time being. We must eliminate those around us and free our brothers and sisters from slavery, as well as investigate the whispers from the dark caves of the Ruins. Something calls us, for good or ill, is up to you.
Then, after we are established, the grand scheme of things can be put into motion. From defense to offense, we can begin to chip at the Hamlet's lifeforce.
The Characters-
Who then, are we to seek, with our grandest goals in mind? Why you of course!
Dark Paragon (Crusader/Man-at-Arms)- A practicer of magicks unknown to us, this hulking wall of metal and mettle challenges the greatest foe, and stands as a wall to protect their companions under the guidance of an alien god. (2 character maximum)
Brain (Grave Robber/Highwayman/Antiquarian)- A master manipulator, or even a master coordinator, these smart, but fragile individuals are the best at finding soft spots, and exploiting them in combat. (1 character maximum, up for debate on an individual basis)
Heretic (Vestal/Occultist)- An escapee from the clutches of the many hands of the infernal lords of the deep or the many songs of the Queen below (maybe even a presence beyond our understanding), this cultist finds themselves imbued with magic to heal and hurt those around them, friend or foe. (2 character maximum)
The Abomination (Abomination/Leper)- A beast within another, or a beast all on their own, does it require much explaining? (2 character maximum)
The Runaway (Plague Doctor)- A worthy doctor, converted from the ranks of those in conflict with us. (2 character maximum)
The Killer (Arbalest/Bounty Hunter/Hellion/Jester)- The outliers these wildcards occupy the dark and the strange and come to our meeting place for gains unknown. They are yours. (3 character maximum)
The Leasher (Houndmaster)- A controller of beast and man, this one seeks to unleash their companions upon those in the Hamlet. (1 character maximum)
The Rules-
Our rules are simple. One may not create that of which is more powerful than the rest. Our banner is small, and your character is not more than Level 0 in the beginning. Secondly, outrageousness is tolerable in some aspects, but your character may not exceed the outrageousness currently within the setting. Your character is a character, not a "chosen one".
Now, all of your characters may speak and interact, but infighting within the meeting place is treated with one solution, death. We are a team.
And finally, only one character is allowed per creator, as to not clutter the maximums of character classes.
The Meeting Place-
The epicenter of our operation, the Meeting Place is our base.
What starts us off is our leader, the Great Skeleton, Toby No-Jaw, the bravest, most intelligent bone rabble to ever walk the earth. He is our leader and our distributor of commerce, you will receive your rewards from him.
Next is our pleasure-givers, our experts in stress-reduction for when you return from your missions. First is our Barkeep, Tor, a mighty swinetaur. Second, our Madame and runner of our brothel-tent, Lady Penelope Von Carmie (Be shy, she bites). And thirdly, our own smithy and battle-teacher, Olaf. He is a fine lad, wielding homemade hand-cannons and a giant flail, be respectful.
Now, for the interest of neatness, place your character sheets (the same as usual) in spoilers below if you are interested. I will review them and give you the a-ok should they line up with the rules. Then, should sufficient numbers of people be interested, we can begin!
