Madeline “Missy”
Resolve level: 1
-Appearance
Age: 19
Sex: F
Height: 5’2”
Weight: 100lb
Physical Description: Missy is short and slim, but untoned. Missy’s hair is short and reddish-brown, slightly longer in the front to frame her face. She has pale skin, and almond-shaped brown eyes, once bright but now dulled by her ordeals. Thin lips form a taut line, nervous and untrusting, that breaks into a smile at the sight of acquaintances. Although a denizen of the Hamlet, she appears out of place, her skin clean and clear of scars, her hair much more neat and tidy than one would expect from a pauper.
Attire: Missy wears a frilly white cotton dress with sleeves that extend to her wrists. The knee length skirt of the dress is layered over by a shorter brown leather overdress, free flowing but laced at the torso. Her clothing appears free from any wear and tear of constant use or any use at all, excepting the peculiar amount of cat hair.
-Biography
Quirks:
Form Fluid - Missy is able to shift into different shapes.
Weak - Missy is not very physically strong.
Fragile - Missy is not much of a fighter, incapacitated by major hits.
Fear of Mankind - Although she loves company, her treatment at the hands of Whateley and his associates has left her forever scarred.
Backstory Synopsis: A life of luxuries and excess led to the downfall of her parents, the very peasants they ruled overseeing their execution. Purchased by a doctor interested in her ability, Missy was tortured and abused in the name of scientific experimentation. When she finally escaped, Missy sought out a town as far away from the evil doctor as possible.
Full Backstory:
Born to noble parentage, Missy lived a life of luxury funded by the harsh taxes set by her father. Although or perhaps because her father was fully human, Missy only partially inherited her mother’s shapeshifting ability. As Missy grew, so did her wants, and the taxes soon followed. Eventually, the townsfolk reached a breaking point and stormed their manor, killing her parents and capturing Missy. As Missy and her mother’s ability to transform was known by the townsfolk, she was to be burned at the stake until a traveling Doctor Whateley offered to buy her.
The doctor took her away from the village, a detour to his laboratory immediately upon obtaining the shapeshifting creature. His passion for evolutionary science lead him to thirst for the knowledge how Missy’s abilities worked, and when she refused to voluntarily participate in his experiments, the doctor employed alternative means to force her into submission. Missy bided her time and after years of experimentation from Whateley and his colleagues, finally managed to escape, stealing anything of value she could. Hoping to find somewhere to hide, Missy traveled as far as she could by stagecoach, hoping the doctor wouldn’t find her in a faraway coastal town.
Misc. Notes: Surprisingly devoid of scars for someone that has been in the Hamlet for a few years.
Missy’s ability to transform is limited, only allowing her to change into smaller creatures that she has seen before. She seems to prefer her cat form most of all.
-Skills & Equipment
Weapons: Two simple daggers. One is strapped to the belt at her waist, and the other is concealed within her stachel.
Armor: Not one to engage in combat, Missy does not wear any armor, preferring to evade hits or avoid fighting altogether.
Other gear: A leather satchel strapped around her shoulder, with smaller straps that look made for a child or some smaller creature.
Strengths: Missy’s ability to transform into small animals lends her more towards utility than combat, allowing her to pass through small spaces or see in the dark.
Weaknesses: Due to years of malnourishment and confinement, Missy is unsuited for battle. Her strength and skills are lacking, subpar at best. Missy is also easily frightened, her past experiences leaving her fearful of human enemies especially.
