Sex:
[Male]
Attire:
[Normal clothing that's worn when in a non combat zone, e.g. The Hamlet.]
For lack of a better word, the man has always lived in the clothes that are worn to battle. Pieces are of course taken off, such as the heavy gambeson coat wrapped around his chest, the ramshackle shoulder plates and other pieces that would be uncomfortable. Though, in most circumstances that are in public territory, that man never removes his domed armet.
-Equipment
Weapons:
[Rusted Brigands Shortsword x2]
Two blotted, chipped and rusted shanks that have long seen use in combat and have scarcely been looked after. There are not many blacksmiths in the deep, dark woods.
4x Bolas
A foreign tool utilised by bounty hunters to catch their quarry. Weighted on both ends, the bolas ensures the movement impedance of their for, making them an easy kill.
4x Crude Flashbang
An assortment of specific metals mixed with a strange chemical substance, a fuse is applied , and within two seconds of it landing on the first thing it connects the grenades a flash of light, followed by an ear shattering sound. The way this works is as follows - if the enemy is unaware of the presence of a flashbang, their mind will not be prepared to deal with a sudden flash and bang at the same time, which inadvertibly causing the enemy to essentially black out entirely. In ideal conditions, this would take about 4 seconds to recover from.
2x pouches of itching powder.
Something you'd think would stay in a kids playset. Utilising this function within combat would work to lower the opponents defences, to disrupt their line of thinking. Wouldn't work too well with dead things, but for the most part, it's an annoyance worth keeping bottled for a special someone.
1x Medium sized kit of medicinal items (3x turniquets, flask of 'medcinal' alcohol, bunches of burnt disinfected straw, 2x roll of stitching thread, stitching needle, strange mushroom.)
x783 Gold pieces
x1 lucky rabbits foot
x1 Golden lockett
x1 Cat o' Nine tails whip
Armor:
[Defensive equipment that will negate/reduce damage]
Gandry does not believe in the protection of thick plated armor that is worn by the knights of the Germanic Empire, nor does he believe that the garment of Eastern warriors would stop a firmly planted shortside from being embedded in their chest cavity, the man adopts a standard style of semi European protection.
>A domed armet covered by a hood, followed with padding, a chain link coif and the sort beneath.
>A gambeson coat that covers his chest, followed by a thick woolen covering, akin to that of a sweater beneath that to act as further padding and comfort.
>Front side plated greaves, the back of those greaves covered with gambeson. Wears a pair of worn out German Jackboots, large encompassing boots that end just below the kneecap, with a short kilte. It has seen better days, though it acts as good footwear for traversing long distance.
>The arms are protected only the thick woolen coat beneath the gambeson, and a brace of hard leather on either wrist, coupled with a pair of Germanic knight gauntlets to protect their hands.
>The left shoulder is protected by a ridged spaulder covering the top of his right arm, the other is bound tight by a bevor like shoulderguard to protect strikes from that side. It has holes in its sides to allow for some vision to his side.
>To accompany his neck with some softer cushioning, a wolf pelt, standardized by the Brigand gang he had been taken into rests on his shoulders and trails down his back.
>On his waist, beside the gambeson waist spaulders that hang to cover the thighs, what seems to be a banner of arms, depicting a golden hound sat straight. The banner is tattered, worn and mottled with the blood of the damned.
-History
Backstory Synopsis:
Noble of an indulgent house, betrayed through the same blood as his own, persuaded slyly into joining a war from which he could never return for his birthright of gold, glitter and women. A band of brothers, the 13th, a shady group of mercenary that performed many ill deeds, and this eventually twisted Gandry, upon realizing that his family had abandoned him, and he was alone. The war would soon come to an end, but not with a ploy to end Gandry for good by the house of Laratel. An attempted treason, caused by a hand that was not Gandrys, but said to be his. His band of brothers, all merry and happy to collect their 2nd to last pay before ending, were ambushed from either side by state troops. An annihilation, a slaughter from which Gandry barely escaped from. Alone, and weak, he flees from the allegations set before him to another country, Queensland. Stumbling through town after town, Gandry can feel that his end his near, but a black stone is cast from a figure in drab black, with wolf pelt strapped around his back. Damned survival or eventual demise, Gandry was forced to stay alive, for that was all he knew.
Taken into the fold of man made beast, the gang of the Great Fang, an organized but strictly brutal society of bandits, rapist and murderers, sometimes all three. A band of 'brothers' that desired not the pleasantries of gold, the desire to move away from the criminal life, but to indulge in murder and chaos. For a few months Gandry withstood this foreign existence, but it would not stick, he could not call these creatures 'brothers'. A devious plan was hatched, to fake his death, to 'start over' in the place that they had harassed from the shadows. Scouting ahead a location he had visited frequently throughout the months to relax, it led to a cave system that would lead out of the Darkest Estate area, this was frequently used to bring contraband, weapons and food to Vvulfs gang via a dead drop. A day was spent preparing his fake demise, and on the day, a booby trap through a delay string trap hooked up to controlled gunpowder explosives placed in the wall.
The trap is set, and soon on the day, the trap is sprung by Gandry and two companions behind him. The explosive sounds off, muffled by the shake of the cavern collapsing behind Gandry, projecting his demise of another brother of Vvulfs gang. A couple weeks past through lost, blind navigation through the caverns, his armour and gear worn as he eventually makes his escape into the border just outside the Darkest Estate. Beaten, bruised, he makes his way towards the nearest town to enlist onto the stagecoach.
Misc. Notes:(Special items, notable scars, scents, how they walk, or talk, etc.)
>A noble house’s banner is tied around his waist, the insignia of its house resting on the right thigh.
>Gandry, for his bulk and endomorphic form, was trained in the art of what could be called ‘Guerilla Warfare’ when he was still with his deserted mercenary band. Though he isn’t spectacular in how he approaches this, he is known to be nimble, quick and quiet. Decisiveness, for him, is key.
>The manner of which he would walk could be described in a shielded, defensive manner. His form is stiff, and hands never stray too far from his shortswords.
Full Backstory:
[The entirety of the full characters story]
These ideals of Gandry were not forced upon at birth through moral chance, but more so, gained through the boys own growth from child to man. The noble life was for him, an enjoyable one from childhood as it produced for him many joys: Comfort, education, and pleasure of many forms. But that would not last as the wars began to sprout between Holy Kingdoms, Tribal Incursion and noble schemes. Gandry would be victim to a clever ploy to rid him from his birthright, as his was promised a deed to the families manor, its women and riches, by being manipulated to being sent off to war against petty rivalries between the Germanic Empire, and the Northern lands that dwelled above the English Queens rule.
Gandry was enlisted into a notorious mercenary band that profited from war and ill deeds such as singular/multiple assassination of noble/important figure heads in the west and east, known as 13th Cumbrodian Bulwark. It was a fierce band of eighteen men, where almost all of them had criminal convictions, and the others had yet to have been caught and given punishment. Many bore their own sins, their own failures, and to Gandry he was one of them. Still, a heavy heart remained inside the unknown noblemen through the betrayal of his own family, and a life of comfort and riches, gone. The mercenary band took part in covert operations, generally involving the sabotage of resource depots, the ambush of small Germanic militia and the occasional guerilla warfare into stationed army camps.
Eventually circumstances arose after many years surviving in the mercenary band, many shaped Gandry into the thug he is today, and due to those circumstances that eventually led to the downfall of the Cumbrodian Bulwark Mercenary Band. For his desertion from the mercenary band, was convicted of the following charges: Treason, attempted regicide, grievous mutilation, and other religious qualms that would also added to his sentence. All the feelings in the world were boiled down into a few simple words for Gandry at this current moment in time. He was fucked. Yet, from the hand that he was cast, from the scraps that he was thrown, there lay a black stone in that mess for him to take. Though it seemed like certain death, what did he have to lose?
A connection was made, more accurately, another employer found him. He joined this employer, and as a result, the man went down to the place where the world would end, but where the end, would be the beginning once again. The Darkest Estate, a land known for its notorious nature of its inhabitants, but more so its myth of great evils converging upon there. It didn’t matter to him, for it was either he remained in the civil lands of lies and liars, to be tortured and put to the axe, or to follow ahead with the great Fang.
The same old trail began in a much more dire environment. His ‘brothers’ were not the same, they were twisted, vile and altogether, evil men who strove with little to gain. They had goods and gold from merchants, and other victims, yet they would not spend. This brigand band that was ruled by the great fang, strove only for blood and glory, with nothing to gain for it. Still, desertion would not be tolerated here, so with due consideration, he continued down this dark, bloody path of thievery, murder, and bloodshed to survive, and only to survive. Eventually it would come to pass that Gandry would hatch a simple, but effective plan to fake his own death, to escape the piercing, animalistic stare of this brigade of wolves. In one of his engagements with two other brigands, he had already scouted the area out a day before his companions, and set up a ‘booby trap’ to make his death unknown. The engagement took place in a cave system, and Gandry took the lead away from his companions.
He would trigger this booby trap ahead of the other brigands, and a few seconds later, a cave in would occur behind Gandry through the clever use of controlled explosive packages stuffed in the rock walls of the Warrens. The thug had already checked this tunnel out, and it took a while before he would eventually find another way out through the crawling, abandon maze of caverns, and back into the light.
With his fate unknown to the brigands of the great fang, the man must attempt a fresh start. As fresh as one can be, in this rotting place. So for now, from the place that his group had targeted and harassed, he would begin anew as a mercenary once again, under the rule of the Darkest Estate.
Personality:
Although his history is grim, his past laden with the bloodshed of man all for the gold, he did not outright chose this path. Through the deception of his house, he had been tricked into this style of life, and molded by it, twisted by it. His nature is not that of an evil thug, though first impressions may indeed see it as that. Altogether, he is quiet, he rarely speaks and when he does its brief and to the point. Any form of malice or aggression is rare, as he is quiet, calculating and cold.
His phobias in themselves are as they seem, but this is not a permanent affliction. As for him he has had these qualities since he was in the mercenary band, upon realizing his betrayal. The gold representing his lost birthright, and the killing of men, he uses it to quell his bitterness, in hopes that he may one day take revenge on his house.
-Qualities
Quirks:
+Man slayer
+Lurker (Experience in sneaking, able to surprise opponents and deal more damage when his presence is unnoticed.]
-Kleptomaniac
-Dacnomania [Interrogation was a forefront in his mercenary career… and he was good at it. Exacting his own, personal betrayal on the captured, was enough to make it easier.]
Fighting style:
[Details how the character tends to fight, and what it will avoid.]
Aggressive, yet careful, Gandry takes his footwork and mobility quite seriously. Often times, he will pace himself with the opponent, utilizing speed to overthrow them and to deliver quick blows, or if the cards are in his hands, a single decisive blow. He doesn’t play fair, or nice, using anything that could give him an edge in combat to beat, or kill his opponent.
However this quick and deadly playstyle comes at a cost, his defense is relatively low regarding how he is able to parry and deflect an opponent's weapon, so his strengths lie in dodging and keeping out of an opponents range. Much like a wolf, circling its prey, keeping a watchful eye on what it will do, before inevitably pouncing for the kill with gnashing jaws.
