4’9” 115lbs, wiry musculature, fair skinned, oval face, wide-set kindly cognac eyes (see first attached picture), chestnut brown wavy hair that stops just below her shoulders (though she usually keeps her hair contained in a tight bun), small upturned nose, and full youthful lips. Charis sets a brisk pace with a quick and quiet “nurse’s walk.”

-Biography-
Quirks:
Aural sensitivity (Sharp ears and a healthy sense of paranoia make for a tricky target to ambush) [“Shh… I hear something…”], Novice Anatomist (Knows many of the more obscure ‘soft spots’ on the Human body)[“He’s not going to last much longer. I nicked his brachial artery when he tried to clothesline me.”]
Synopsis:
Charis was supposed to have been sent to a Church-run sanatorium to the East, but a jealous and politically savvy Clergy member called in a few favors here, pulled a few strings there, and now Charis has been sent to the Darkest Estate woefully unprepared. Though maybe her non-clerical abilities will prove to be a boon.
Full:
Charissa first used her Injury-transfer ability on her childhood friends, speeding the healing of minor scrapes and bruises, and the occasional sprained wrist or ankle, before one day using it on her father (a blacksmith) after he received a broken arm from the kick of a spooked horse. Word quickly spread about the ‘miracle girl,’ and the Church of the Light soon showed up and spirited her away from her village when Charis was about 6-years-old.
Charissa spent the next four years living in an Abbey on the outskirts of the river port city of Dunwall. Father Corsin was a firm believer in the idea that a shepherd did his best work in the midst of his flock, and as such encouraged little Charis to play with the children of Dunwall. Charis excelled at games like hide-and-seek, tag, and tree climbing, where she would take advantage of her smaller-than-average size. After a kidnapping attempt (one that Charis is unaware of because she was in a drug-induced slumber for the duration of said attempt) Father Corsin called upon his past life as a sneak thief to teach Charissa how to pick many of the commonly available locks. “There are people out there who will seek to contain you, Charis.” Corsin once told Charissa, “They will seek to keep you and your healing hands to themselves. And if you know how to pick locks, Charis, you can make it harder for these people to contain you.” It was not long after Father Corsin taught Charis everything he could remember about lockpicking that Charissa moved to the seaport City of Karnaka.
Charissa transferred to the Karnakan Clergy at the age of ten, and she quickly grew to hate it there. Mother Superior Dela of the Karnakan Cathedral was a member of the ‘old guard’ so to speak, she was extremely strict, and viewed Charissa’s power as something to be controlled. And to control Charis’ power, Dela first had to control Charissa.
The ‘manacles’ were implemented quickly. Charissa could leave the Cathedral proper, but only with an approved escort, she couldn’t leave the Cathedral District, and Charis had to return to the Cathedral by five bells on the dot, or she would receive no dinner. ‘Unseemly behavior,’ which was everything from talking to beggars to simply running around, was harshly punished with a sound caning. On top of all of this, Charissa was strictly forbidden from using her healing powers without direct supervision from Mother Dela. All of these new constraints on what Charissa could do, where she could go, who she could talk to, and even who she could heal, chafed on the little nun. In response to the crackdown, Charis started acting out. Using her evasion skills, which she had learned while playing tag back in Dunwall, as well as the stealth and observation skills she had gained from hide-and-seek, Charissa would give her minders the slip while out on walks. And after curfew, she would use her stealth, lockpicking, and the climbing skills she had gained from tree-climbing, to leave the Cathedral grounds. Of course, Charissa’s mostly self-taught skills were only on par with a skilled novice, and about a year into her time in Karnaka, her escape attempts started failing more and more often. Enter Bernard Kenbreak, Career Theif.
The first words Bernard ever said to Charissa were “A lock-picking Sister; now I’ve seen everything.”. Charis had just turned eleven years old and was being stymied by a new type of lock that Mother Dela had installed on the all of the side doors that lead outside of the Cathedral. ...The last thing Bernard said before leaving the Cathedral was “We thieves can go anywhere we like.” , Charis was quick to follow
him through the side door.
Charissa was introduced to Alchemy when one of the more bookish members of Bernard’s guild mistook her for an apprentice trying to skip out on a lesson. After being effectively bullied into the classroom, Charis quickly discovered that she had a real knack for Alchemy, and began to create new variations on known alchemical recipes, as well as completely new alchemical creations. It was after an attempted mugging for the more expensive alchemical components she was carrying that Charissa endeavored to learn some method of self-defense, turning to one of her few friends at the Cathedral, one Brother Paul Arkwright, a former Crusader.
Charissa honestly doesn’t know very much about the man who taught her the finer points of wielding a short sword. He turned up shortly after Brother Paul exhausted what he could teach about swordplay without veering into a style that was physically incompatible with his student. The man was of average height and weight; he wore brown and black leathers with an attached brown cloth hood, much like Bernard did when he was on the job, but instead of a cloth face mask, the man wore a blank black mask. The man said that Charis could call him Gorsin and that Bernard had asked him to teach Charis a little about fighting with a shortsword.
Misc. Notes: Charis can ‘split’ the severity of an injury between her patient and herself, or herself and willing volunteers, as long as she (and the volunteers) are in physical contact with the patient. She can only do this once per patient per 24 hours.
