Hugo Smonk
Resolve level: 0
-Appearance
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Physical Description:
A tanned individual, Hugo Smonk stands at a height of 5'6. Most of his thin form is covered by his body-suit, though underneath this is a toned man, marked by occasional burn scars centered around the left side of his body, near his left pectoral and left side of his collarbone. Other scars, smallish and often thin, possibly from knives or bone struck through his skin, Hugo does not know. His hands are strange, eerily soft, his right pinky missing, often the center of a joke.
Upon Hugo's face, serpentine and sharp, often covered by a mask, is a vast scar, the remains of an old injury, of popping skin and bubbling flesh. It covers his left cheek and peters out as it travels to near the left side of the neck. His thin, pink lips are often moist, as Hugo is always in singing shape. His button nose is only marked by a small blackhead Hugo refuses to deal with on the bridge. His soft brown eyes often betray a sense of childlike ignorance, but bear a cold stare when happiness fails him and Hugo is forced to remember cold memories. His hair, a remainder of Hugo's original lust for perfection, is tightly slicked to his skull with sweat and tallow.
Attire: Hugo carries no clothes upon himself except a body-suit, covering most of his form in silken bright blues. His feet are covered in moccasins built into this suit, hide soles stitched to the feet-parts. Though, like a too large sock (or a smurf hat), they extend for a bit before ending in dented bells, that jingle sweetly as he walks. Each leg bears a different pattern, polka dotted on the left side and striped on the right.
As they reach his thighs, the leggings adopt a different fabric, becoming strange Shakespearean-actorial puffs of baby-blue fabric, bearing the same dichotomous pattern-changes. Above these lies a strikingly ugly leather belt, of which a similarily battered blacksmith's hammer sits, tucked neatly. His torso continues the differentiating-pattern trope, but as of recently is covered by a thin leather chest piece that bears homemade engravings that depict flowers and grapevines. His arms follow the same pattern, though puffing from the elbows of his suit is danging pewter chains, holding small ribbons colored off-white.
As the suit ends upon the neck, a ruffle of pearl-white fabric sprouts, and poofs ostentatiously against the bottom of his jaw. Past this lies a peculiar porcelain mask. Normally, the mask only covers the mouth of Hugo, a neutral expression on a half light blue and half dark blue mouthpiece. Extending daintily on either side of this mask are the faces of sorrow and laughter, generic and associated with the theatre. The sorrowpiece is dark blue, and the laughterface is a bright, light blue.
Written across the inside of this mask, chipped paint reading upon the porcelain back, "You are Blue Smoke. You are happy, or sad. Act."
-Biography
Quirks:
Second Wind: "The Spaniard's sword was made of black steel and it's kiss was a terrible thing."
Tough: "They day they hung Robin, the crowd did not once weep."
Thanatophobia: "Brothers, oh brothers, my days here are done. The Spaniard's taken my life."
Nocturnal: "When the torches burnt out, and all were gone, I stayed with him. All through the night, after the day they hung Robin."
Backstory Synopsis: After a decent life of love and adventure, Hugo's life was taken from him, including his wife and child. After such, his mind was split, between his loss and his life after it. Whether or not he wishes to forget one, is the debate he has.
Full Backstory:
-Skills & Equipment
Weapons: The Blacksmith's Smoocher -- A heavy hammer, found amongst the ashes of his homestead.
Armor: New Beginnings -- A leather chestpiece, most likely less protective now that Hugo has scraped art into it.
Other gear: The Tavern-Tuned -- A simple oak lute, "Tavern Tuned" as Hugo calls it, it is made for creating a twang with the notes, to appeal to drunk masses.
Strengths: A dextrous man, Hugo is a true acrobat, a flipping, unpredictable fighter with a pension for feints and fainting when he wins.
Hugo is also a clever man, cursed with a quick wit and a calculatory perception. He is always on edge.
Weaknesses: Hugo has a hard time deciding when to quit, as his chin is strong and his will stronger. Also, Hugo can be manipulated when promised a good time and will go to great lengths to engage in luxury and debauchery. And in conclusion, Hugo enjoys pain.

Full Backstory:
Sneaking his love through her bedroom window and escaping through the night, Hugo met Anna. Her father was a zealous veteran, intent on returning her home, despite her wishes to remain with Hugo. As the two frolicked through life, trying their best to remain hidden from her father, Hugo and Anna found themselves in England.
From their coupling, a child was born. Robin, he was named. Onwards, the family remained in England, unaware as to the hounding father, intent on murdering Hugo and his spawn.
On the night before winter, Anna's father found their home, surrounded by loyalists. He attacked the home, waking Hugo, to which Hugo was attacked and disfigured with a burning torch. Afterward, in a blind rage, Anna's father's lackeys attacked and murdered young Robin, who rushed to defend his father.
After this, Anna was killed in an attempt to stop Hugo's murder, rising from bed to attack her own parent. Anna's father, stricken with grief, burned the house around him down, to which Hugo survived miraculously.
After this, Hugo does not remember much, pouring his sorrow into a lute he carried in a chest within his home, saved only by the metal confines. From this, Hugo forged a living as a creator of sorrowful ballad and tragic scene. He could not continue this, though, and wished to die.
Hopelessly, he forged ahead towards a place of which guaranteed death. The Darkest Dungeon.
